Not Becky with the hair…
…But I have gotten a couple of questions/comments on my hair lately so I decided to do a blog post. Let me start off by saying that hairstyling/care was not always my forte, and I still have a lot to learn. This is mostly because I grow up in Honduras and going to get your hair done every week is common and waayy less expensive than it is in the US. Before going to college, I had never styled my own hair…crazyy, I know. During my freshman year, I tried to give myself a blowout and let’s just say it did NOT go well. My hair was like a lion’s mane LOL! That quickly dissipated my desire to do my own hair. Luckily, my friends are amazing and they offered to do my hair with their hot tools. For the longest time, I tried to avoid the flat iron (thought it was so damaging) but gave in when it was the only way my hair came out looking somewhat decent. By the end of my first year, I had bought this flat iron (still use it today), started doing my hair and experimenting with different hairstyles. Since then, I’ve been hooked and love playing with my hair but never really took care of it (cringe!).
All 4 years of college and grad school, my hair was extremely damaged. Towards the end of grad school I was tired of split ends and dry hair, soo I chopped it all off and made myself a promise to take care of my hair. Of course, I hated the short hair the day after the cut. So my hair was mostly in a bun (didn’t want to use heat) and I took these vitamins. They work wonders to speed the growth process! This was also when I got my Bellami’s (still use them) but that’s a whole other blog post :). I’ve tried all kinds of hair treatments but this is my favorite. It’s inexpensive and does a great job a moisturizing. Besides using hair masks, I also got a Brazilian Blowout and let me tell you it’s a life changer!! My hair dries straight without the need of hot tools! If you straighten your hair with chemicals or hot tools, get one and you will be amazed. Barely using any heat, made my hair grow even more than it had in the last 6 years! My shampoo and conditioner are from the same line. You have to avoid anything with sulfates or it will cancel out the blowout.
Like mentioned above, when you see longer hair on my posts, I’m using Bellami exentions. I put them in and then do my curls with Bellami’s 6in1 curler set or the T3 set. To make my curls last more than a day, I use a heat protectant, this texturizer, and the T3 curler on the highest heat setting. This makes my curls last at least two days. On my natural hair, I only use the Bellami curler (along with heat protectant) because it doesn’t get as hot.
This regimen has been working great so far, don’t think it will be changing any time soon. Now, I’m working to get my hair as long as my extensions :).
Thank you so much or stopping by! Have a great week!
